The research is a collaboration between the Machine Intelligence and Decision Systems research group, Queen Mary University of London , and the Centre for Trauma Sciences, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR).

VBN has been developed by Barbaros Yet and Zane Perkins, under the supervision of Prof Nigel Tai, a vascular surgeon and member of the Trauma Sciences unit at the Royal London Hospital, and Dr William Marsh, a senior lecturer at the Machine Intelligence and Decision Systems research group.
