HypoperfusionPH

Evidence

Lactic acidosis results from tissue hypoxia resulting from hypoperfusion. Cells undergoing anaerobic respiration generate lactic acid. The degree of lactic acidosis is a sensitive measure of the degree of shock / tissue hypoperfusion.

Increasing severity of shock (worsening tissue hypoperfusion) is associated with increasing heart rate (HR), worsening hypotension and worsening metabolic acidosis.
